ETHICAL CODE OF CONDUCT
At the Sussan Group, we take the responsibility to ensure that the goods we sell are manufactured ethically seriously.
We believe in protecting all workers so have established expectations that help us assess, review and improve processes to protect workers while delivering more sustainable products to our customers. This includes improving labour standards while promoting social, ethical and environmental improvements across our global supply chain.
At The Sussan Group, ensuring we work with the right supply chain partners is critical to our combined success so we always look to work with suppliers who share also our vision across all stages of production within their end to end supply chain.
This commitment ensures we are constantly focusing our practices towards improvement via our B Corp action plan.
At the Sussan Group, our Ethical Code of Conduct requires adherence to the following expectations wherever our product is produced:
CHILD LABOUR
We align our expectations for the elimination of Child Labour to the ILO (International Labour Organisation) Conventions and require that no worker shall be employed at an age younger than 16 or the age as determined by local legislation, whichever is higher.
WORKING HOURS
Workers must have 1 day of rest in any 7-day period and working hours must never exceed 48 hours per week or the legal limit in the country of manufacture, whichever is lower. Overtime must be voluntary and not exceed 2 hours per day, 12 Hours per week or 36 hours per month.
RESTRICTED SUBSTANCES & PRACTICES
We expect all those involved in the manufacture of our products (including Sub-Contractors) to adhere to the expectations of the Sussan Group Restricted Substances and Restricted Processes List at all times.
ENVIRONMENT
We work with our supply chain partners to ensure they seek to implement processes and technology that reduces the impact our products have on the environment during the manufacturing processes or at end of life.
SAFETY
All factories used for Sussan group manufacturing must meet local and national safety laws and standards. All buildings must be structurally sounds and hold the required building permits and building registrations.
FREEDOM OF ASSOCIATION
All workers must have the right to collectively bargain including union membership. Employment must not be forced and free of restrictions such as deposits and restrictions on after-hours movement.
TREATMENT OF WORKERS
Workers must not suffer any form of physical, sexual, psychological or verbal abuse, harassment or discrimination in their employment on the basis of gender, race, religion, age, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, political opinion, social group or ethnic origin.
ANIMAL PROTECTION
Our finished goods must not be tested on animals and any animal product used in our products is sourced as a by-product of another industry.
WAGES/ BENEFITS
All workers will receive all legal wages and benefits including correct overtime payments required by law or contract, paid on time and receive payslips to demonstrate how their wages were calculated.
REGULAR EMPLOYMENT
We expect workers will be given a regular income that allows workers to provide support and security to their family, enabling them to plan for their futures.
GLOBAL CRISIS/PANDEMIC
We expect Employers to prepare and implement plans to protect workers during any global crisis or pandemic while operating within all local and national government guidelines during the crisis or pandemic.
ADHERENCE TO CODE
All Suppliers that provide goods (products) and services to Sussan Group agree to abide by the expectations of this Sussan Group Ethical Code of Conduct at all times.
