RESPONSIBILITY

At Sussan Group, we believe a responsible business can be both profitable as well as making a positive impact on our employees, customers, communities, and the environment. It’s about living our values every single day.

For us, our success is linked to the well-being of the women we serve. By prioritising responsibility, we attract top talent, foster loyalty among our customers, and drive innovation. As a certified B Corp™, we are dedicated to making a meaningful social and environmental impact.

PUTTING THIS INTO ACTION

Our actions reflect these commitments. 10 things we’re proud of doing:

We’re proud supporters of Australian cotton and almost our entire Sussan range is locally sourced premium cotton. Producing a bale of irrigated Australian cotton now requires 52% less water and 97% chemicals than 30 years ago, as well as supporting Aussie farmers and partners in our supply chain.

We’re continually gathering data on the water consumption amongst all our direct suppliers and have set water reduction targets as a Group.

Community is at the heart of who we are. Our partnerships, like the one with Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) since 2005 are deeply embedded in our culture. Since commencing our community partnerships, we have raised over $11m AUD.

Our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) has been formally endorsed by Reconciliation Australia in 2023. Through training & workshops we’ve been deepening our cultural knowledge along with understanding the sphere of influence we can continue taking towards reconciliation in Australia.

As a workforce comprising of 99% women, we’re committed to elevating female empowerment and progression. Within Sussan Group HQ:

• We are a female led senior leadership team.
• Our brand Managing Directors are all women.

We’re foundation members in the Seamless initiative. Seamless aims to create a circular clothing industry by 2030. As a foundation member we’re working with other retailers to divert 120,000 tonnes of end-of-life clothing from landfill by 2027.

While we, and the entire apparel industry have a long way to go, we’re making great progress on decarbonisation. We achieved a 23% reduction in our total greenhouse gas emissions between 2022 and 2023.

In 2022 we achieved ‘advanced’ status of the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) a not-for-profit organisation leading the development of a circular economy for packaging in Australia. We continue to work towards our goals and targets across the 7 criteria and we publish our status annually.

A large proportion of our environmental and social impact happens in our supply chain. We receive data from more than 60 tier 1 suppliers covering emissions, electricity, energy sources, fossil fuels usage and have set a 5% per year reduction in emissions from all suppliers.

More than 80% of our facilities have a recycling program. We regularly monitor and record waste and have set clear reduction targets.
