Empowering our Future Gen: Sportsgirl Partners with HoMie for Inspiring Pathway Program

The Sussan Group is committed to empowering the next gen of young people passionate about fashion and retail through the HoMie Pathway Alliance.

This is the first year the Group has been a proud retail partner in the Alliance, a certified education and employment program for young people aged 18-25 who have experienced or been affected by hardship, barriers to employment, or homelessness and are ready to kick-start their working lives

Throughout the eight-month program, HoMie and its partners deliver paid classes and development opportunities for the young people engaged in it. These include cultural awareness and inclusion training, budgeting and money management, fashion design and modelling workshops, resume and cover letter writing, and mental health and resilience training.

With full hearts and deep pride, we celebrated the graduation of our two HoMie Pathway Alliance Interns on October 30. Margo and Liz joined our Eastland and Doncaster Sportsgirl teams in store from April to October this year.

Lilly Vlassopoulos, Group People & Capability Manager, says the interns were an instant valuable addition to the stores.

“In April, we welcomed our HoMie Interns to our Eastland and Doncaster stores, and they were an immediate asset to our team, showcasing their creativity, positivity, teamwork and how to put together the perfect fit for our customers,” she says.

“Congratulations to all of the HoMie Pathway Alliance Grads of 2024; what an incredible achievement, and we can’t wait to see what you do next. A big thank you to the HoMie Team for all of the work that they do with such authenticity, and impact.”

Sportsgirl looks forward to continuing the partnership with HoMie in 2025 and hopes to encourage other retailers to learn about and support the Program.
